Adding Vegetation
In this lesson, we explore the vegetation tools available in RhinoLands. We begin with an overview of the plant database.
When arranging vegetation in a design, it’s essential to consider factors such as climate, soil conditions, and maintenance requirements. Choosing plant species that are well-adapted to the site promotes long-term health and sustainability. A diverse mix of plant types, sizes, and textures contributes to a visually engaging landscape, adding depth and seasonal interest.
Strategic planting—such as grouping species by water needs, layering by height, or framing key views—can enhance the overall design impact. These strategies can be efficiently implemented using Grasshopper, allowing for parametric control and adaptability within the planting layout. Thoughtful placement also fosters biodiversity, improves microclimates, and supports the ecological performance of the space.
